VINYLIZE 2010 is OUT

January 14, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Hello Everybody and welcome to the sneak preview of the 2010 vinylize collection. We just posted pictures of the 7 models available now. We think that most of them look great with both sun and optical lenses.

In the next few weeks we hope to release another 4, bringing the entire collection up to 11 models.

Quite a few of the shapes you may already be familiar with, as we remade some of our favorites: Bank, Chicago, Grappelli(now Holly), Don Giovanni and Pausz. There are also quite a few brand new shapes for the Vinylize collection: Jackson, Clark,  as well as some that are not up yet: Sinatra, Piaf, Joplin and Anett.

A total of about 600 frames were produced in our little ateliers in Budapest and Pecs(now the culture capitol of Europe. http://en.pecs2010.hu/) Between 40 and 55 frames were produced per style, making this collection very limited. Each frame is branded with a serial number on the temple. We picked up an old numbering machine that was used to number checks in the USA…

the 29th Chicago frame

We did the best to keep the grooves nice and crisp for you. This varies from model to model and frame to frame, depending on what record we used, which side it was cut from and also from what area of the record.

Don Giovanni's new grooves

Something completely new is the use of rivet hinges, just like in the good old days… Since the frames are bigger and thicker, we opted for 5 barrel hinges. These should take most anything dished out to them.

We are also pressing a new 7″ single for the cases. This should be  ready to ship by the end of January and of course our catalog will be included in it.  Until then we will be using up our stock of “The Vilnius Connection”.

The case made from 7" vinyl single

For opticians we ship them a bunch of these as well as 12″ vinyls of our pressing and they also get stands made from vinyl upon request.

The vinyl is finyl.

Pausz Vinylize 2010

January 13, 2010 · Leave a Comment

In case you havent noticed yet, all Vinylize frames are named after dead musicians. Except Pausz. He is only 32 years old, lives in Hungary, and has had a near death experience. The pressing on this frame is actually his own recording and can be heard on our Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tipton-Eyeworks/169683687155?v=box_3 The song title is OLYAN.

Ready for the Sun

In my opinion this is a unisex neo aviator frame that can pass as both sun and optical (the rapist look is in now, and it is a popular fantasy with both sides).

Pausz from the front

Made since about 2005, it has held its ground partially due to cult status, but mainly because it has attitude.

Guess whos following you...

ALL 2010 Vinylize frames are serial numbered. Only 51 Pausz frames have been made, below, you can see number 27

Red 27. and this one you cant have

Jackson Vinylize 2010

January 13, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Jackson is also new to the Vinylize family. We figured that since the line has such a retro feel to it, this shape has to go. The following reasons make this shape a global winner:

Jackson is here

Great sunglass shape

and the versatile Jackon again

Classic Optical frame

For the sun...

Looks great on men, and fantastic on women.

Optical Jackson

And of course it is available with gradient or solid sun lenses. And I dont need to mention that both looks are a good choice.

Measurements:

W : 149.5mm

A : 55mm

B : 41.5mm

DBL: 19mm

Holly Vinylize 2010

January 13, 2010 · 1 Comment

Holly is actually a slightly redesigned version of the 2007 Grappelli. It was unexpectely popular and we sold them ALL quite quickly and then were unable to make more… Now it is back, with rivets.

Holly as an optical frame

The grooves are pretty awesome on the number 006 Holly. We made 53 of them, all individuall branded of course.

This is Number 006

The shape size and style of the Holly doesnt get any more classic than this.

If classic were to be defined...

As a sunglass it works pretty good as well.

Welcome to the 50's

W : 143mm

A : 52mm

B : 33mm

Don G. 2010

January 13, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Don G. is actually the abbreviation for Don Giovanni. This frame was originally designed in 2003 and was discontinued but eventually rose in popularity, so we decided to remake it.

Don Giovanni with dark lenses

The shape is a more interesting one and is a sort of hybrid. Some people swear it is a sunny, others buy it as an optical. I personally have very light gradient lenses in mine.

Don G. and the key holes

The thick upper and lower rims combined with the keyhole cuts make this an interesting shape. one guy I know owns 3 of them…

When the sun shines, the grooves just jump out

Clark Vinylize 2010

January 13, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Clark is a retro style deep rectangular frame.  Classic in fit and shape, it looks great on most men with large heads. New to the Vinylize collection, it functions well as both a sun frame and as an optical frame. It is available with clear, gradient or solid sunlenses.

Clark with gradient lenses

5 barrel rivet hinges will keep the temples on the face!

Clark from the front

Contrary to common belief, the frame is not named after Clark Kent. The originator of the name is Sonny Clark.

Clark as an optical frame

A total of 42 frames were made, each numbered.

Clark Kent may have worn these...
